Solar Panels

Installing photovoltaic (PV) solar panels allows you to generate your own electricity to supplement your energy supply. It's rare for homeowners to be completely self-sufficient for electricity generation (you'd need both a large bank of panels and a high-capacity battery to store the energy for use at night and during dim periods) but many like the idea of generating their own green energy.

Solar panels are a specialist topic which we won't attempt to cover in detail, other than to mention them as a worthwhile part of a whole-house retrofit project.
